WHEN IS IT TIME TO USE AN OIL PURIFICATION SYSTEM?
When transformer oil becomes contaminated, it loses its dielectric properties, its viscosity increases impairing heat exchange, and its stability against oxidation is reduced. Oil purification is a process designed to remove contaminants from the oil to preserve its performance.
GlobeCore offers a variety of design options for our oil purification units. They can be assembled in containers, installed on castor wheels or on trailers to enhance mobility for transformer service. Our units are a versatile tool for dielectric oil purification and pulling vacuum on transformers used extensively in the power industry.
The CMM-M unit by GlobeCore are designed to remove particulate matter, gas and water from oil. The unit performs one of the following three functions:
- Oil filtration
- Filtration of oil in vacuum and with heating
- Oil degassing
The CMM-0.6 oil purifier incorporates replaceable filters, an oil pump, an oil heater, and a vacuum chamber with a vacuum pump. The unit is often used to process oil which has been exposed to air and water during transportation, which causes as much as 20-30% drop of breakdown voltage.
The CMM-0.1 by GlobeCore is a unit designed to remove particulate matter and other contaminants from transformer oil. In many cases these simple and reliable units have been in operation for over five years.
The CMM range of oil purification products perform degassing, dehydration and filtration of various types of oil, such as transformer, industrial, turbine and cable oil. The units are commonly used when installing or servicing high voltage systems (i.e. transformers, substations, switches and OF cables), as well as industrial machinery and turbines.
CMM systems serve for degasification, dehydration and filtration of transformer, cable, turbine and other oils for removal of gases, free and soluble water and particulate matter.
OIL PURIFICATION EQUIPMENT RANGE
GlobeCore offers a wide range of mineral oil purification systems, most commonly used for purification of electrical insulating oil, suitable for any specific application.
One important feature of our products is the capability to operate with energized transformers. To do so, the oil purification machine and the transformer are connected using a Transformer Safety System (TSS). This device takes a reading of oil level inside the transformer prior to operation and keeps the level unchanged throughout processing. Using quick coupling makes connecting GlobeCore’s oil purification systems to transformers incredibly simple.
Transformer oil often contains water that has a significant adverse effect on the quality and performance of the oil, decreasing breakdown voltage and accelerating aging. Our company offers a range of products for transformer oil filtration and purification. These systems rid the oil from water, gas and solid particles.

One of the most frequently encountered contaminant in oil is water. Water is detrimental to the life and performance of the dielectric oil. The cart is ideally suited for servicing small volume transformers. All processes required for servicing electricity substation can be performed including gas removal, temporary oil storage, contaminant filtration to 0.1 micron, gas purification and drying, equipment evacuation and equipment re-pressurization. The cart is also ideally suited for consolidating partially-used SF6 bottles into one bottle.
